McChrystal takes blame for Rolling Stone article

— Retired Gen. Stanley McChrystal is speaking out for the first time since he was forced to resign.

McChrystal said in his new book that he takes the blame for the Rolling Stone article, and the unflattering comments attributed to his staff about the Obama administration, that ended his Afghan command and army career.

McChrystal said that “regardless of how I judged the story for fairness or accuracy, responsibility was mine.” He says the decision to resign was his own.

He devotes just a page-and-a-half to the incident in “My Share of the Task” and spends more time on his work in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The book is being published Monday by Portfolio/Penguin, an imprint of Penguin Group USA.
