Court date pushed back for Hot Springs lawyer

— A judge has rescheduled a hearing for a Hot Springs lawyer with whom Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel admitted having an extramarital relationship.

A judge ordered Andrea Davis to appear in Garland County Circuit Court on Feb. 21 to explain why she shouldn’t be held in contempt for failing to show up for a hearing the day McDaniel publicly acknowledged their relationship. Davis was previously ordered to appear in court Tuesday.

McDaniel is the only announced Democratic candidate for the 2014 governor’s race. He has been married since 2009. He said he met Davis during his 2010 re-election bid.

In one case Davis represented a group of parents who successfully challenged the state’s school choice law while McDaniel’s office represented state education officials.

Davis didn’t return a phone call Monday.
