— Shooting in LR leaves 1 injured

A person was taken to a hospital in a late-afternoon shooting Sunday.

Little Rock police found the 38-year-old victim wounded in the 3900 block of Springer Boulevard shortly before 5 p.m. There were conflicting reports from police concerning the victim’s gender.

The circumstances that prompted the shooting, as well as any suspect information, were unavailable Sunday night.

Police Department spokesman Sgt. Cassandra Davis did not return a message requesting further information.

Officers at the crime scene described the victim’s gunshot wound as “serious.”

I started fire, woman tells police

When investigators arrived at a business fire in downtown Little Rock early Saturday afternoon, a Little Rock woman approached officers and handed them a lighter.

“Yeah, I lit this ... up,” she told police, according to arrest reports.

Shortly before 1 p.m., fire crews were called to the 120 S. Cross St. fire, which the woman, identified as Sheila Richardson, told officers she had started.

According to arrest reports, Richardson, 46, told police she stole some property from a homeless man and set it on fire. The fire spread to the commercial building and did roughly $10,000 in damage, according to fire officials.

Richardson, of 4509 W. 25th St., was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and arson, a Class B felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

She was being held in the Pulaski County jail Sunday night in lieu of a $15,500 bond.

Police find child after DWI check

During a driving-while intoxicated stop, Jacksonville police officers found a child in the front seat of the vehicle they pulled over late Saturday afternoon.

According to arrest reports, an officer spotted a truck driving over the center line on TP White Drive sometime before 5 p.m. and continued to follow the truck.

The truck did not stay in between the lines on the northbound lanes, according to arrest reports, and the officer pulled it over in the 4000 block of TP White Drive.

Police said there was an “odor of intoxicants” emanating from the vehicle and that when officers looked inside, they found a 6-to-8-year-old boy sitting on the passenger side.

The driver, identified as Michael Carrere, 47, of Jacksonville denied drinking.

Carrere was charged with DWI as well as one count of endangering the welfare of a minor and traffic charges.

He remained at the Pulaski County jail Sunday night, where he was being held in lieu of a $3,860 bond.

Traffic stop leads to gun, drug arrest

Failure to use a turn signal or wear a seat belt led to several felony charges, including drug and weapon crimes, for a North Little Rock man early Saturday afternoon.

A North Little Rock police officer pulled over a vehicle driven by Rodney Sanders, 25, in the 400 block of Palm Street shortly before 1 p.m.

According to arrest reports, Sanders had two bags of marijuana tucked in his waistband.

Police said they also found a third, larger bag of marijuana, which made for a combined weight of 52 grams of the drug.

They also found a loaded, stolen handgun, a set of digital scales and a counterfeit $20 bill in Sanders’ possession, according to reports.

Sanders, of 5918 McCain Park Place, was charged with felony possession with the purpose to deliver and felony possession of drug paraphernalia charges. He also faces charges for simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, forgery, and misdemeanor theft by receiving.

A convicted felon, Sanders was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He remained in the Pulaski County jail Sunday night, where he was being held without bail.
