— Authorities are looking for a driver who fled the scene after running over a woman in a crosswalk in Little Rock's Hillcrest neighborhood Sunday morning.

Police say it happened about 9:30 a.m. as 61-year-old Lois Sandusky was in the crosswalk on Beechwood Street at Kavanaugh Boulevard.

According to an accident report, a white Ford 150 pickup turned right onto Beechwood, striking Sandusky and running over her with the front left tire. Police say the driver stopped then before looking in the mirror and pulling forward, running over Sandusky a second time with the rear left tire.

A passerby reportedly then intervened, asking the driver "what he was doing."

"[The driver] then sped away from the scene south on Beechwood and disappeared into the neighborhood," police wrote in the report.

Family members said Monday that Sandusky remains in stable condition in the St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center's intensive care unit.

The hit-and-run driver has not been located. Police describe him as a white man about 50 to 55 years old with white clean-cut hair and a full facial beard with possible glasses.

The truck is said to be an extended cab model with military-themed plates possibly reading "USAAEF."
