Architect tabbed for Robinson Arts Center renovation

— The city of Little Rock has chosen an architect for the upcoming renovations to the Robinson Arts Center.

According to a release from the city, Polk Stanley Wilcox firm of Little Rock partnered with Ennead Architects of New York City, were tabbed to do the work, picked from a pool of 13 candidates.

The firm also had a hand in work on the William J. Clinton Presidential Center and Park, Oklahoma Civic Center, Carnegie Hall, Heifer International and New York City Center.

“We are very excited about this project. Robinson Center has long been an icon in Little Rock and has served the community and our region very well over the past 70-plus years. However, it is in desperate need of upgrades and renovations in order to become the performing arts center that our city deserves.” said Gretchen Hall, President and CEO of the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau, in the release.

The renovations to the Robinson Center is designed to improve "function, acoustics and aesthetics," the release states.

The Robinson Center renovation is scheduled, tentatively, to start the summer of 2014 and finish in the fall of 2016.
