Murphy Oil names Clyde head of retail business

El Dorado-based Murphy Oil Corp. said Tuesday that it has named R. Andrew Clyde as Murphy Oil USA Inc., its retail marketing subsidiary.

The company announced in October that it would this year spin off its retail gasoline business, separating its retail business from its exploration and production operations.

Clyde, a partner in management and strategy consulting firm Booz and Co.’s global energy practice, has been devising the company’s plan for the retail unit to move forward as a separate entity, Murphy Oil said in a statement.

Murphy Oil USA has more than 1,150 U.S. retail locations and in December announced an agreement with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. for more than 200 new locations across the Midwest and Southeast.

“Andrew has been intimately involved with the Murphy USA business for several years and has been instrumental in preparing the retail business for our upcoming spin-off. I look forward to working with him to complete the process of separating into two strong but distinct businesses,” said Steven Cossi, Murphy Oil Corp.’s president and chief executive officer.

At Booz and Co. since 1993, Clyde has served as managing partner at the New York-based firm’s Dallas office since 2007, the statement said.

Clyde holds a master’s degree in management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a bachelor’s in accounting from Southern Methodist University.
