Judicial panel director announces retirement

— The executive director of the Arkansas Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission is stepping down after leading the panel for five years.

The commission says Executive Director David Stewart retired Dec. 31.

Deputy Executive Director David Sachar took over as executive director Jan. 1.

Stewart was appointed executive director of the commission in July 2007 after serving as a Little Rock district judge for 13 years. Stewart calls the position “the best professional job I have ever held.”

Sachar has served as the commission’s deputy director since August 2007.

He has worked as a trial attorney and as a special circuit judge in the 6th Judicial District.

The Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission oversees the investigation and litigation of hundreds of complaints filed against Arkansas judges each year.
