— Elsewhere in entertainment and the arts: Dancer-actor lectures

J.R. Martinez, author, actor, veteran and a winner on TV’s Dancing With the Stars, will give a lecture at 7 p.m. today in the M.L. Harris Auditorium, Philander Smith College, 900 Daisy L. Gatson Bates Drive, Little Rock.

Martinez suffered severe burns and smoke inhalation when his Humvee struck a land mine while serving in Iraq in April 2003; he later landed an acting role on ABC’s All My Children. He and Karina Smirnoff won the Dancing With the Stars Mirrorball Trophy in 2011.

Songwriters session

The central Arkansas chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International will hold its monthly Songwriters Workshop, 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Second Hall at Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock. All songwriters are welcome; admission is free. Pine Bluff cabaret

Cabaret performer Cindy Miller will put on her one-woman show I Got the Music in Me, featuring musical comedy impersonations of Barbra Streisand, Cher, Madonna and Tina Turner, among others, Saturday at the Old Town Theatres’ Center Dinner Theatre, Pine Bluff Country Club, 1100 Country Club Lane, Pine Bluff. Dinner is at 6 p.m., andthe show, part of a monthly series benefiting the theater fund, at 7:30. Dress code is casual; though geared more toward adults, the shows are kid-friendly.
