— A homeless man accused of stabbing another man multiple times told authorities he later attempted to stitch the victim's wounds with dental floss, according to a North Little Rock Police Department report.

Ashton Stottler, 32, was arrested early Friday on a preliminary charge of second-degree battery. He is set to make an initial court appearance Tuesday.

Police began investigating after being called to Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock, where Nicholas Scarseth was receiving treatment for 13 stab wounds, the report said.

Investigators say Scarseth was uncooperative.

Officers were later called to 211 Crockett St. The resident there told police that Stottler was there and had admitted stabbing Scarseth "in self-defense."

Stottler was found inside the home and "spontaneously stated multiple times 'I did it to protect'" a woman who was with him in the home.

The woman, identified in the report as Chelsie Bent, told police she and Stottler were in a bedroom when Scarseth forced his way in and began threatening them. Bent told police that Scarseth refused to leave and that Stottler stabbed him "a couple of times in defense," the report said.

Stottler was taken to the Pulaski County jail, where he "spontaneously stated ... that he attempted to stitch Scarseth up with dental floss."

This is the most messed up story of the day! I wonder if blood toxicology was done on these individuals... because something more potent than alcohol sure sounds like it was involved.

Further... a 32 year-old homeless man. What are the circumstances behind that? is it drug abuse? Is it a series of really bad decisions? There are ministries and individuals around this city to help people in need.

most likely intoxicants were involved but if you saw the mugshot the guy was apparently beating the hell out of him. both of his eyes were swollen shut and apparently he was in fear for his life and grabbed his knife. also takes a bit of character to offer to dress someones wounds after theyve knocked you senseless to the point where you feel like you have to stab someone.Train folk usually handle their own business which is why scaeseth was uncoopertive with the police.Chelsie is bad news brown thats why shes taking bumps for this incident all around the us now from friends of both parties for playing two ends against the middle. Also once a kid always kid. when you've been riding since 12-13 it's kind of hard to change. in general folks judge not lest ye be judged.i got a whole pile of sttones for the sinless masses.
