House fire in Mountain View kills four

By The Associated Press

This article was published January 11, 2013 at 5:08 p.m.

— Officials say four members of a Mountain View family died when a fire swept through their home.

The Stone County Sheriff’s Office says the home was destroyed early Friday; the Stone County Leader newspaper posted a photo showing the house burned to the ground.

The dead were identified as Jeffrey W. and Carolyn Sue Bauerlein, who were both 49, and their daughters, 13-year-old Callie and 8-year-old Molly. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.

Superintendent Rowdy Ross says Carol Bauerlein was a ninth-grade English teacher at Mountain View High School. The girls were eighth- and third-graders on the same campus.

Ross said school was in session Friday but some distraught students left early. Grief counselors and clergy members were brought in to meet with students and teachers.
