— After going scoreless in Arkansas' Southeastern Conference opener at Texas A&M on Wednesday, Marshawn Powell came back with a vengeance for the Razorbacks on Saturday.

The redshirt junior forward scored 17 points and Arkansas held Vanderbilt to its second-worst offensive performance ever in a 56-33 win at Bud Walton Arena.

Powell, the team's leading scorer this season, scored 12 points in the first half of a game the Razorbacks never trailed. Arkansas (10-5, 1-1 SEC) held Vanderbilt to only 11 points before halftime.

The Commodores (6-8, 0-2) had a dismal showing after a last-second defeat to Kentucky two days earlier, hitting only 10 of 40 field goal attempts and committing 26 turnovers.

The point output was the lowest for Vanderbilt in 31 years.

Despite its defensive prowess, Arkansas led only 21-11 at halftime, but the Razorbacks blew the game open early in the second half. BJ Young, who finished with 14 points, had 12 in the opening minutes of the period as Arkansas built a 27-point lead.

Vanderbilt's 33 points were the fewest ever for a team at Bud Walton Arena and the fewest an Arkansas opponent has scored in a SEC game. The 23-point margin of victory was the Razorbacks' largest in conference play since 2010.

Let's address the the Hog's 21 point half. Sad, even against Vandy.
