The Arkansas 149 overpass crossing Interstate 40 east of Forrest City will shut about three weeks for repairs, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said Tuesday.
I-40 traffic won’t be affected as construction crews work to repair an apparent failure in the shoring of an embankment where a new overpass is being built, department officials said.
The construction work is being done at the Earle exit near Shell Lake on I-40, the department said.
Exit 260 will remain open, but traffic won’t be able to cross the interstate there, the department said. During construction, eastbound I-40 traffic will be able to access Arkansas 140 only to the south and westbound traffic only to the north.
The new overpass is expected to be completed in the fall.
