LITTLE ROCK A man was electrocuted to death Wednesday afternoon while cutting tree limbs around an active power line in Little Rock.
Little Rock Fire Department Capt. Randy Hickmon said the man, whose identity has not yet been released, was cutting limbs when one fell onto an 8,000-volt power line at the 3600 block of W. 10th St. about 1 p.m. Wednesday.
LRFD and the Little Rock Police Department were dispatched to the scene, where the victim was lowered from his perch and pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim worked for Hernandez Tree Service, which is working independently in the recovery effort after Tuesday's ice storm. The service was not contracted by Entergy. Had they been, Hickmon said, the protocol is to turn the power off to that line at the company's request.
