ABF Global expands coverage to South America

Fort Smith-based Arkansas Best Corp. said Thursday that it is expanding its ABF Global Supply Chain Services coverage to South America.

ABF Global will offer full-container-load and less-than-container-load ocean transport for Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Peru and Uruguay, the company said.

ABF previously expanded coverage in Europe and Asia.

“With an established presence in Europe, China, India and Southeast Asia countries, South America is a natural extension of our global coverage,” Carlos Martinez-Tomatis, division vice president of ABF Global Supply Chain Services, said in a statement.

“ABF Global now covers nearly 90 percent of the total ocean international market to and from the United States. Our goal is to reach 96 percent of the total import/export market, which we anticipate achieving before the end of 2013.”

ABF said it controls dedicated space on ships that frequently travel to and from all major worldwide ports, so the company offers single-contact solutions for those who have international manufacturing centers or suppliers.
