Organist Justin Bischoff will be the soloist on Francis Poulenc’s Concerto for Organ; Philip Mann will also conduct the Overture to The Barber of Seville by Giacomo Rossini, Charles Ives’ The Unanswered Question and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Haffner” Symphony No. 35. 6 MELODY Organist David Briggs, artist-in-residence at St. James Cathedral in Toronto and organist emeritus at Britain’s Gloucester Cathedral, will give a recital at 8 p.m. Friday at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1000 N. Bach and Franz Liszt, organ transcriptions of orchestral works by Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky, Edward Elgar and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and an improvisation on a submitted theme. 10 MEMORIAL The commemorations of the Civil War continue as the Arkansas Post Museum State Park and Arkansas Post National Memorial, both near Gillett, remember the battle of Arkansas Post, which took place Jan. 9-11, 1863. Activities include soldier camps, interpretive programs, children’s activities, a period ball and a memorial service.

The camps open at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. General admission is free. Visitors are asked to park at designated spots in Gillett and ride the shuttle to the parks. Call (870) 548-2207.
