Jury convicts Richard Conte on 2 counts of capital murder

A former physician charged in the killings of two men in Conway was found guilty Friday afternoon.

After less than an hour of deliberation, Richard Conte, 63, was convicted on two counts of capital murder and related firearms charges in the 2002 shooting deaths of a Conway businessman, Carter Elliott, 49, and a family friend, Timothy Wayne Robertson, 25.

Conte will serve life in prison.
