A Magnolia man was killed Thursday night after his vehicle ran off a Columbia County highway and hit multiple trees, Arkansas State Police said.

John Lloyd Leslie Jr., 52, was traveling east on U.S. 82 in a 2005 GMC truck about 6:30 p.m. when his vehicle crossed the westbound lane and ran off the highway, striking several trees, state police said in a preliminary accident report.

Leslie was pronounced dead on the scene. The weather was clear and the road was dry at the time, according to the report.

Leslie's was the 20th death in a traffic accident in Arkansas this year, according to preliminary figures.
