100 YEARS AGO Jan. 18, 1913 TEXARKANA — Because Senator E.F. Friedell of Texarkana introduced the “10-mile liquor bill” in the Senate yesterday and the bill was passed, an antiquated hearse was placed in front of his home here some time last night. The bill which was passed provides that all territory within a radius of 10 miles of Texarkana shall be “dry,” and caused considerable comment here.
