2 hurt in accidental shooting at North Carolina gun show

By The Associated Press

This article was published January 19, 2013 at 3:42 p.m.

— Officials said two people were accidentally shot and wounded at a gun show at the North Carolina state fairgrounds.

It happened Saturday at the Dixie Gun and Knife Show, a quarterly event that usually draws thousands of people to the fairgrounds in Raleigh.

The fairground is operated by the state agriculture department. Agency spokesman Brian Long said a 12-gauge shotgun discharged while its owner unzipped its case for a law enforcement officer to check it at a security entrance.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, and two people were loaded into ambulances.

Long said the shotgun’s owner brought the weapon to the show to find a private buyer.

The show shut down early Saturday.

It does tend to show why we really don't trust these people. When I drive by the local auditorium and there is a gun show there, the sight of all the guys with their weapons cases trying to look so tough, combined with the knowledge that some of them are unsavory characters who are there because it is easier to get a gun without a background check, it makes my skin crawl.

Actually, the ADG failed to tell the whole story--not an unusual occurrence. This show was actually part of the first annual Gun Appreciation Day around the country, and there were four people shot at three different gun shows. In addition to the two in Raleigh, one person was hospitalized after being shot at the gun show at Medina, Ohio, and at the one in Indianapolis, a man shot himself in the hand reloading a gun.
This would actually be funny, except for the innocent bystanders who were shot, but then that's what they get for thinking it is so safe to keep company with gun people.
These are the same people who think more guns in school will make them safer. Earlier this week, at a Michigan charter school, a security officer accidentally left his gun in a restroom used by students as young as five. I don't know if he was fired, but he should be.
In Benton County today, a deputy sheriff left his shotgun on the roof of his car and drove off. They haven't found the gun yet, but they did have the good sense to fire the deputy. Unfortunately, there is nothing from which we can fire all the Joe Blows who are running amok with guns. We're just stuck with them.
Tell me again how more and more guns will make us safer. Some of the people who are supposed to know what they are doing are making stupid mistakes, and the civilian gun nuts are shooting each other.
More guns in more hands equals more danger.
And just what was the ADG agenda in not letting people know how many of these accidents there were at gun shows, and that the shows were part of a new Gun Appreciation Day?

every shooting just shows how important the second amendment is. doesnt matter how many kids are killed, or idiots at a gun show, or someone shooting their family member - every shooting just reinforces how great the second amendment is. the more shootings we have the greater the second amendment is. It rises supreme over any other amendment an should be cherished by all, not just republicans and mouth-breathing, shoeless, inbred tea partyers.

You should start your own newspaper inquire. You could make your own decisions on what to report.

This is not the first time the ADG has been caught slanting a story to protect the right wing agenda or right wing candidate. Anyone who ever took a high school civics or journalism class knows this is not good journalism. It is a real come down for a grand old paper that in other times was respected around the world and won a Pulitzer.

There are plenty of left wing papers around the country doing the same thing. That's life and life's just not fair is it? I can find tons of right wing articles the ADG does not report either

In a related story, 3,182 babies were intentionally killed in America today by abortion on demand. Wasn't this shooting accidental?

This story was not about abortion. This story was about idiots with guns, the same idiots who don't think there are enough of them in circulation.

1. Where does it say that any of these shooting were done by NRA people?
2. Notice the article uses the term ACCIDENTAL....accidents do happen. That may be the reason many liberals were born.
