A Garland County man was shot yesterday in his yard.
The Garland County sheriff's office responded to a report of a shooting at 265 Bryant Road around 1:45 p.m. Saturday.
The police report states Clarence Lewis, 74, walked onto the lawn of his neighbor James Southard, 62, and shot Southard in the stomach with a handgun.
Police say Southard got the gun away from Lewis and struck him with it.
Southard underwent surgery, but police did not know the extent of his injuries as of 6 p.m. Saturday. Lewis was treated and released for lacerations to the head.
Police say Lewis has refused to cooperate, and is being held at the Garland County jail on a charge of criminal attempt at first-degree murder, a class A felony.
