A crowd gathered outside the Arkansas state Capitol on Monday morning to celebrate Martin Luther King Day and President Barack Obama's second inauguration.

More than 100 people gathered at the steps of the Capitol after the annual MLK Day parade, which winded north through Little Rock and featured an array of floats, sports cars and marching bands.

A large television was to have shown the inauguration ceremony live, but technical difficulties had it blank for all but the closing minutes. The crowd did burst into applause after a host announced Obama had been sworn in for a second term.

Ebene Givan, of Little Rock, said she came out to see her daughter perform with her school band in the parade but stayed to take in the inauguration.

"Especially with it being on Martin Luther King Day, it's special," Givan said. "I mean, it's definitely historic. It's a memory."
