Some parents hesitant to take a shot on vaccines

Many a parent has cringed while watching needles pierce their sweet little baby’s thighs for his first vaccinations.

Those sticks are followed by tears, and some babies are uncomfortable and cranky for a day or two after the injections.

But cringes and crankiness, at least, are fleeting. Some moms and dads find themselves more concerned about complications and side effects associated with vaccinations, however rare they might be.

For some, the worry about those issues is such that they opt to forgo immunizations altogether.

In Arkansas that number is on the rise, according to state health department officials. See Wednesday’s Arkansas Democrat-Gazette for more about this issue.
