A Fort Smith man has been sentenced to more than eight years in prison after pleading guilty to federal charges of transportation of child pornography.
U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas Conner Eldridge said in a statement that 55-year-old Terry Bellah was sentenced to 100 months in prison without parole.
Bellah pleaded guilty last August months after police conducted a search warrant at his Fort Smith home and learned he was traveling to Atlanta at the time. Homeland Security officers then located Bellah in Alabama, where he "confessed to having child pornography on the laptop computer that he was traveling with," the statement said.
Prosecutors say they located more than 100 different pornographic videos involving minors on the laptop.
“With the Internet and other computer technology that makes illicit material more readily available, our office must remain vigilant in the prosecution of crimes that involve child pornography," Eldridge said in the statement. "Those who victimize our children will be brought to justice.”
Bellah was also sentenced to 15 years of supervised release after his prison term.
