Two arrested after chase in North Little Rock

— Two men were arrested early Wednesday after a short chase through part of North Little Rock that reached high speeds, according to arrest reports.

Antiona Phillips, 37, and Terry J. Pitts, 26, were each arrested on a preliminary charge of fleeing after the incident, which police say started about 1:40 a.m. when an officer tried to stop a car at West 18th and Marion streets.

According to a North Little Rock Police Department report, Phillips, who was driving, took off at a high speed and later disregarded stop signs and red lights.

Police say Phillips pulled over and was arrested about a mile away at 1201 Park St. But Pitts, identified in a separate police report as a passenger in the car, reportedly got out and ran.

According to that report, an officer searching the area found him about a half an hour later in a backyard around 1100 Park St. The officer then chased him to a dead end at 1000 Park St., where he was arrested, the report said.

Pitts was wanted on a warrant for failure to pay a fine, the report said.
