Entergy Arkansas, the state's largest electric utility, has released a preliminary damage estimate from the Christmas Day ice storm that blanketed much of central Arkansas and left thousands without power — some for several days.

The utility announced in a news release Thursday that the total restoration to its damaged facilities cost the company nearly $55-65 million. Entergy will present a cost-recovery proposal to the Arkansas Public Service Commission in March during a planned base rate proceeding filing, the release states.

Entergy Arkansas, a subsidiary of Entergy Corporation, services approximately 700,000 customers in 63 counties, according to the release.
