AT&T: U-verse back for 'vast majority,' rest to be restored today

— AT&T says a "vast majority" of the thousands of customers who lost television, Internet and phone service Monday have had their service restored and the rest should be back up Thursday morning.

The telecommunications giant said in a statement that it would provide a credit for customers who lost service.

"We know our customers count on their U-verse service and we apologize for the inconvenience," the statement said.

AT&T said Wednesday that the problem was spurred by a "complex issue related to a software upgrade."

U-verse went down Monday night for many customers across multiple Southern states including Arkansas. Officials say the problem affected less than 1 percent of AT&T's 7.4 million U-verse customers, which would mean fewer than 74,000 customers.

The company said a multiple-day disruption is "unusual."

Some customers in the Little Rock area reported on Twitter that service was restored Wednesday night, while others said it remained out.

No service yet. Calls to AT&T ends up in India and the tech assist guy does not know where Little Rock is or what the problem is. This article is the first clearing my question & why AT&T is so adamant to keep the customers in dark & no info to their help desk.

Elliott - It is typical AT&T BS. It is out in 15 states. I don't have anything AT&T and absolutely refuse to have anything to do with them because of their lack of customer service skills. My son also worked for them and they treat their employees awful plus coverage with their cells phones is terrible. I've had Verizon for years and no problems at all with the customer service and that includes having FIOS which is wonderful. I know many people who tried the U-Verse and dropped it after only a few months because of poor customer service, higher bills than they were told and other problems with AT&T. Good luck and hope you get it back soon.

It is 12:31 and mine is STILL not on. I woke up Wednesday morning with no television, internet, or landline. This is crazy....such a big company and we have this!!!! I hope mine comes back on TODAY!!!!!!!! It would be nice to go home, drink a glass of wine and watch television. :(

Redlab, how on earth did you get past the paywall? FIOS is *not* an option for Arkansans; our only choices other than U-verse are cable or satellite. I have every right to complain (my U-verse was out for about 38-1/2 hours thru last night), but my only other choice is Comcast (Xfinity) which is even worse in some ways.

Like many Arkansans, I was without U-Verse services for several days. I rebooted my system this morning and it magically began to work agian. Not sure what to tell you with those that are still having trouble. I will provide you an update on the "credit" that AT&T is offering their customers. I contacted them and was told that they would credit me $5 a day for the number of days I was without service. I found that to be a little insulting and voiced my opinion regarding that as I pay more than $5 a day for the service. They finally credited my account more, but instead of doing what is right at first, they start out low.

RBBrittain - What is wrong with you? I was just making a comparison that I've had problems with ATT&T in the past and now have Verizon and I haven't had any problems. I was not saying to get FIOS because I know you do not have it there. I was just giving my opinion and comparing. Can you comprehend that? Doubt it. You always inject things in comments that are not there. I don't live in Little Rock anymore, I moved on to greener pastures but till have friends there. I would think you had better things to do than create ignorant comments like you do. Give it up, you are not amusing. (Yes this is sarcasm.) It is a shame that Verizon is not there for FIOS because you would love it.

RBBritain - I didn't insult you, I told you the truth. And as usual you got it wrong again and cannot comprehend what I write. Take a course in comprehension, it really does wonders. Preening because I left Arkansas, honey, I lived and left Arkansas three different times. You don't have to keep on repeating yourself, I understood what you said the first time but you cannot comprehend what I said period. Look up the word comparison, it will help you. I'm done with you, you are dismissed. LOL
