What do you want to see?

By The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

This article was published January 24, 2013 at 11:07 a.m.

This is a bad time for movies — the cineplexes are jammed with the year’s most forgettable product, stuff like the Farrelly brothers’ omnibus comedy Movie 43, which sounds like a bunch of pretend YouTube clips starring famous people which they’re pointedly not airing for critics, and the Jason Stratham actioner Parker (which the Miami Herald’s usually reliable Connie Ogle reports is better than expected). I mean, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters? Really?

But rather than simply curse the darkness, MovieStyle editor Philip Martin uses his OnFilm column for an omnibus project of his own— he polls critics and contributors Levi Agee, Karen Martin, Dan Lybarger and Piers Marchant about what upcoming 2013 releases they’re looking forward to seeing.

(Maybe not surprisingly, none of them mentioned M. Night Shyamalan’s After Earth, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Grown Ups 2 or Scary Movie 5.)

Read more about the movies worth seeing this season in Friday's Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
