By Gavin Lesnick

This article was published January 25, 2013 at 6:27 a.m.

— Patchy, light freezing rain and drizzle is expected Friday morning in the northeast quarter of the state, the National Weather Service said.

John Robinson, senior warning coordination meteorologist for the agency, said the precipitation will fall over a few hours in an area primarily north and northeast of Searcy. A freezing rain advisory is in effect through 9 a.m. for Clay, Craighead, Greene, Lawrence, Mississippi, Poinsett and Randolph counties.

The rain will move east by midmorning, by which time temperatures will also surpass the freezing mark, Robinson said.

More freezing rain could come early Sunday morning. Robinson said it would be patchy and restricted to the northern two rows of Arkansas counties in the central and eastern parts of the state.
