BENTONVILLE A former constable in Washington County has been arrested in Benton County for allegedly impersonating a police officer.
Tommy Clowers was cited after a resident called Benton County deputies with a complaint about being pulled over by a vehicle decked out to look like a police car. Officers towed away two vehicles from Clowers’ Springdale home on Friday. He was released from the Benton County Jail on Saturday.
A deputy had earlier made note of a vehicle with a badge decal on the door, an emergency light bar and blue police lights, and he recorded the tag number.
Fayetteville television station KHOG reports the same vehicle was used in the stop that prompted the resident complaint. The supposed officer asked to see the driver’s ID and then drove away.
