Texas man dies in one-car accident in Jackson County

A Texas man is dead after being ejected from his vehicle in a one-car accident on U.S. Hwy 67 in Jackson County on Saturday morning.

Arkansas State Police say Walter Owen Hall, 69, was northbound in a 2000 Chevy pickup when the vehicle went off the left side of the highway. Police say Hall over-corrected and lost control of the pickup, and was ejected from the truck during the wreck.

Police say the wreck took place on U.S. Hwy 67, approximately 15 miles north of Newport, around 3:48 a.m. Saturday. Police said weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident.

The police report states Hall's residence is in Canton, Texas.

According to preliminary figures, Hall is the 28th fatality in Arkansas traffic accidents this year.
