Interstate 540 lanes to shut today

FORT SMITH — Lane closures are starting on Interstate 540 in Arkansas to make way for rehabilitation work.
Left lanes on the northbound and southbound sides of the highway between Fort Smith and Van Buren will be closed starting Monday.
The closure will be between Rogers Avenue in Fort Smith and Interstate 40 in Van Buren.
Highway officials say the closure is expected to begin at 8:30 a.m.
The work is part of a $79 million project to rehab a seven-mile stretch of the highway. The work is to be completed next year.
