2.1-magnitude earthquake hits near Walnut Ridge

A 2.1-magnitude earthquake hit Tuesday morning about three miles east-northeast of College City in Lawrence County, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The tremor, which struck at 7:19 a.m. about six miles northeast of Walnut Ridge, or 87 miles northwest of Memphis, rumbled at a depth of about eight miles, the survey said.

There were no immediate reports of damage or of anyone having felt shaking.
