KARK, KLRT to lay off about 30 in consolidation

— Nearly 30 employees at Little Rock-based television stations KARK and KLRT will be laid off this week as the two stations consolidate.

A report on ArkansasBusiness.com states that the layoffs are coming after the consolidation from the sale of KLRT, the local Fox affiliate, along with its sister station, KASN, to Mission Broadcasting of Westlake, Ohio for $60 million.

Several of the lay-offs will include on-air personalities, such as political reporter Jonathan Athens, as well as news reporter Adam Rodriguez and news anchor Wendy Suares, all of KARK. Reportedly among the KLRT lay-offs are sports anchor David Raath and news director Ed Trauschke, Arkansas Business states.

The first newscasts with the consolidated stations will occur Saturday, according to the report. KLRT anchors Donna Terrell and Kevin Kelly will purportedly stay on the air, as will KARK's Bob Clausen and Jessica Dean.
