BENTON Benton police are investigating a robbery that occurred early Monday morning.
Officers responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle at 1406 Arkansas 35 South about 12:16 a.m. Police saw a truck backed up to a shop and two men loading items into the vehicle.
Donald Ball, 51, and Joshua Howman, 22, were arrested and charged with residential burglary and unauthorized use of another person's property to facilitate a crime. Police say Ball is an active parolee.
The men told police that they were stealing items because they thought the items were owned by someone who owed them money for illegal drugs, according to a police report. Police said they returned the stolen items to the shop owner.
Ball and Howman are being held at the Saline County jail. Benton District Court said Ball was being held in lieu of $10,000 bond, and Howman was being held in lieu of $2,000 bond. Both have a court date set for March 12.
Benton police said this is an ongoing investigation and further charges are possible. Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to contact the Benton Police Department at (501) 778-1171.

You have been arrested for robbery and your excuse involves admitting selling illegal drugs? Really? Not the brightest crayons in the box.
