3rd-quarter earnings

Acxiom Corp. will hold a conference call today to discuss its fiscal 2013 third quarter earnings report, which will be released after the New York stock markets close.

The Little Rock-based company’s conference call will be at 4 p.m. and broadcast live on the Internet, according to a news release.

Acxiom is a data-mining company that helps its customers target consumers through marketing campaigns.

The company posted a $16.5 million profit for its fiscal 2013 second quarter, a 34.3 percent increase from the year-ago quarter’s $12.3 million net income.

Acxiom also reported a 3 percent decline in its revenue - from $286 million to $277 million - for the second quarter, which ended Sept. 30.

4th-quarter results due at Arkansas Best

Arkansas Best Corp. of Fort Smith will release its fourth-quarter 2012 earnings results today before the opening of the stock markets.

A conference call with company executives is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.

Interested parties can listen to the call at (800) 618-4645. A playback of the call can be heard through March 2 at (800) 633-8284.

The conference ID number for the playback is 21643591.

The earnings call also is being broadcast on the company’s website, arkbest.com. A replay of the webcast will be available through March 2.

Arkansas index hits record high of 262.45

The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, reached a new alltime high Tuesday, rising 1.93 to 262.45.

“Local equities bested the broad market averages with advancing stocks outpacing declining issues by three to one,” said Bob Williams, senior vice president and managing director of Delta Trust Investments Inc. in Little Rock. “Arkansas truckers were at both ends of the performance spectrum with USA Truck rising almost 20 percent in active trading while Arkansas Best declined just over 4 percent on above average volume.

Arkansas Best Corp. closed at $10.63 and USA Truck Inc. closed at $4.72 in high trading volumes.

Tyson Foods Inc. hit a 52-week high of $22.85 before closing at $22.50.

Murphy Oil Corp. rose 3.74 percent to finish at $63.81 in average trading volume.

Volume was 19.74 million shares, compared with average daily volume of 25.6 million shares.

The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
