A Blytheville man was killed Wednesday after his vehicle went through a stop sign, across a parking lot and into a parked truck trailer, authorities said.
It happened about 8:30 a.m. in Blytheville in Mississippi County.
According to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report, 34-year-old Chester Caldwell Jr. was driving a 2000 Chevy south on Fifth Street when he failed to stop at a stop sign at Sycamore Street.
Police say the Chevy went across Sycamore Street and into a gravel parking lot, where it struck the parked semi-truck trailer. According to the report, the road was wet at the time.
Caldwell was dead at the scene. He was the 29th person to die in a traffic accident on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
