The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra’s Rockefeller String Quartet - Christian Baker and Darby BeDell, violin; Katherine Reynolds, viola; and Daniel Cline, cello - will play string quartets by Felix Mendelssohn, Philip Glass and Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Reves Recital Hall at Hendrix College, 1600 Washington Ave., Conway. Schubert song cycle

Bass Brian Trubitt will perform Franz Schubert’s song cycle Die Winterreise (The Winter Journey) with pianist Bob Bidewell in an arrangement for low voice at 6 p.m. today at Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church, 700 Balearic Road, Hot Springs Village. Schubert set the 24 songs to poems byWilhelm Muller.

Admission is free, but an offering will be accepted to benefit Lovers of Learning Fellowship, a new Jewish congregation in Hot Springs dedicated to the preservation and transmission of Jewish scholarship and tradition. Call (501) 922-6530.

Rocks Opera

Opera in the Rock, a fledgling Little Rock-based professional opera company, presents “Opera on the Rocks II,” 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Great Hall, Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave.

Sopranos Maria Fasciano-DiCarlo (one of three winners at the Jan. 19 Arkansas District, Metropolitan Opera National Auditions) and Kira Keating, mezzo-soprano Kelly Ponder, tenor Vernon DiCarlo and baritone Matthew Carey will perform arias, duets and scenes from Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata, Il Trovatore and La Forza del Destino; Lakme by Leo Delibes; Don Pasquale by Gaetano Donizetti; Rusalka by Antonin Dvorak; and The Pearl Fishers by George Bizet, plus tunes from operettas and Broadway shows by Maury Yeston, Franz Lehar, Leonard Bernstein and Johann Strauss Jr.

The fundraiser will also feature heavy hors d’oeuvres and drinks and a live auction, including a “live” painting by Little Rock artist Stephano Sutherlin.

Drumline Live sells out

The University of Central Arkansas’ Public Appearance Series has sold out the touring Drumline Live show, onstage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Reynolds Performance Hall at the university, 201 Donaghey Ave., Conway.
