BATON ROUGE State police say a 60-year-old Port Allen man died after his SUV slammed into a tractor-trailer trying to turn into a private driveway off U.S. 190 near the Huey P. Long Bridge in Baton Rouge.
Trooper Jared Sandifer said 51-year-old Alvester Moore Jr., of Smackover, Ark., was traveling east on U.S. 190 in an 18-wheeler Wednesday night when he attempted to turn left into a private driveway.
While Moore was turning, Sandifer said, an SUV driven by Wilson Battley Jr. hit the trailer that stretched across both lanes. Battley later died.
The accident is still under investigation.
