Speeding motorcycle leads to arrest on theft, drug charges

A man riding a stolen motorcycle was arrested on theft and drug charges after authorities clocked him weaving through Interstate 40 traffic at high speed Tuesday, according to a police report.

An Arkansas State Police trooper moved to pull over a motorcycle ridden by David Mark Grady, 42, after clocking it at 93 mph through a 65 mph zone about 6 p.m. on I-40 in North Little Rock, according to an arrest report.

A check of the license plate revealed the motorcycle had been stolen. The trooper called for backup and watched as Grady pulled an object from his pocket that a short time later went flying from the vehicle, the report said. It was believed to be the top to a medicine bottle.

The motorcycle got off the interstate at the Levy exit and turned onto Abalon Drive. Grady then dumped a "large amount of white substance onto the road" before stopping, the report said. The substance tested positive for methamphetamine, police said.

The motorcycle had been reported stolen in Little Rock last month.

Grady faces charges of theft by receiving and possession of a controlled substance. He remained in the Pulaski County jail Wednesday in lieu of $15,000 bond. He's due in court Aug. 5.
