Preliminary pageant competitions start at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through July 19; the crowning is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. July 20 at the Hot Springs Convention Center, 134 Convention Blvd., Hot Springs. Rodeo queens: It’s a week full of riding, roping and racing at the National Championship Chuckwagon Races, Aug. 24-Sept. 1 at the Bar of Ranch, 2848 Shake Rag Road, Clinton. There are a variety of trail rides and horse-related clinics; the chuckwagon races themselves are Aug. 30-Sept. 1. Musical performers include John Michael Montgomery, Jason Boland, Little Texas and Riders in the Sky. Admission is $25, $12.50 for children 6-12.
