Catcher James McCann (Arkansas Razorbacks) of the Erie (Pa.) Seawolves (AATigers) went 0 for 2 with 1 strikeout and left 1 man on base Wednesday at the Eastern League All-Star Game in New Britain, Conn. McCann entered the game in the bottom of the 5th inning as a defensive replacement for starting catcher Caleb Joseph of the Bowie(Md.) Baysox (AA Orioles) and batted fifth. The West team, which McCann played for, defeated the East team 5-0. McCann will become the first former Razorback since Jess Todd in 2008 to play in today’s All-Star Futures Game at Citi Field in New York, which begins at 1 p.m. Central and can be seen on ESPN2.

Third baseman Zack Cox (Arkansas Razorbacks) was placed on the disabled list by the New Orleans Zephyrs (AAA Marlins) on July 7 with a strained calf. Dave Sachs, the Zephyrs’ director of media relations, said Cox should be ready to play after the All-Star break. The Zephyrs’ next game is in New Orleans on Thursday against the Nashville Sounds.

First baseman Dominic Ficociello (Arkansas Razorbacks) hit his first professional triple for the Connecticut Tigers (A Tigers) on Wednesday in a 5-4, 11-inning victory over Williamsport. Ficociello finished 2 for 4 with the triple, 1 RBI and 1 run scored.

Pitcher Trent Daniel (Arkansas Razorbacks/Bryant) has picked up 3 saves in the past 10 days for the Tri-City Dust Devils (A Rockies). The saves came at Boise on July 4 and 6, and against Hillsboro on Wednesday. Daniel allowed just 3 hits and had 3 strikeouts in 3 combined innings.

Pitcher Justin Thomas (Southern Arkansas) picked up his first save for the Auburn (N.Y.) Doubledays (A Nationals) on Monday. Thomas picked up the save at Williamsport, where he did not allow a hit and had two strikeouts in two innings.
