3 arrested in Searcy gun-store burglary

A man and two minors have been arrested in the theft of 20 guns from a Searcy store, authorities said Friday.

In the early-morning burglary Wednesday, the Searcy Police Department said, someone shattered a window at Ultimate Outdoors, 608 Main St., entered and stole 20 guns and a laptop. Total damage to the store was estimated at $10,600.

Darnell Trevon Waters, 30, of Searcy and two boys, ages 17 and 13, who weren't identified because of their age, were arrested in the burglary about 5 p.m. Thursday at an apartment at 204 S. Oak St., the Searcy Police Department said.

Searcy detectives recovered seven of the 20 stolen guns, police said.

Waters is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond at the White County jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) and the simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, both Class C felonies, which bring sentences of three to 10 years and maximum fines of $10,000. He is set to appear in court Sept. 3.

The 17-year-old has been charged with simultaneous possession, while the 13-year-old has been charged with commercial burglary, simultaneous possession and theft of property; both are being held at the juvenile jail in Batesville, Searcy police said. All charges are felonies, police said.
