Man tried to attack with ceramic cow, police say

A North Little Rock man was arrested Sunday night after he picked up a small ceramic cow and moved to strike his girlfriend with it, authorities said.

Darryl Crawford remained in the Pulaski County jail Monday morning on a charge of third-degree assault on a family or household member.

The victim told investigators she was in a verbal disturbance with Crawford at their home, 413 Paula Drive, about 6:20 p.m. when Crawford picked up a 6-inch-tall ceramic cow and tried to strike her with it, according to a North Little Rock police report.

A witness who was also present said Crawford picked up the piece and swung back like he was going to hit his girlfriend when the witness "stepped in and took the cow away," the report said.

The girlfriend told police she was afraid Crawford "was going to hurt her," police wrote in the report.

A preliminary court appearance is set for Tuesday.
