This article was published July 23, 2013 at 8:01 a.m.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Developers say two new wind farms in Oklahoma will provide electricity to utilities in Arkansas and Nebraska.

Renewable Energy Systems Americas Inc. says it's reached an agreement to sell 150 megawatts of wind energy to Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corp., which is part of a cooperative that provides electricity for more than 500,000 customers.

RES Americas says it will build a wind farm with 75 turbines in Murray and Carter counties.

In a separate project, EDP Renewables North America LLC says it will provide wind power to Lincoln Electric System in Nebraska. The Oklahoman reported that EDP will build a 100-megawatt wind farm at Arbuckle Mountain.

The Oklahoma Department of Commerce says the state currently has more than 500 megawatts in announced projects under construction.

Hey Arkansas Electric, why aren't we building our own wind farms IN ARKANSAS? Instead of buying from another state....build in Arkansas and use the energy tax credits. Let's think ahead.

To make a wind farm feasible, we have to have a consistent supply of wind. That's just not possible in AR. It makes much more sense to build large-scale wind farms in OK, KS, CO, or NE.

This is good unless they are spending taxpayer dollars. I am getting tired to this Administration "investing" my tax dollars on loosing project for the sake of "green energy" which is BS. There is an environmental cost of any of it.
