Police: Woman had child with her during drug deal

A 52-year-old Beebe woman had a young child with her during a drug transaction Tuesday in Little Rock, authorities said.

Wanda Spears was arrested about 2 p.m. on charges including delivery of methamphetamine or cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Officers observed Spears conduct a "narcotics transaction" before pulling her over at East 6th and Ferry streets, according to a Little Rock Police Department arrest report.

Police say Spears was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and that a young child was in the backseat of the vehicle and had been during the drug deal.

Spears was booked into the Pulaski County jail, where she remained Wednesday morning in lieu of $31,500 bond.

The report didn't specify who took custody of the child.
