Storms lighter Wednesday, weather service says

Wednesday should be a calmer weather day after Tuesday's showers and thunderstorms served to stabilize the atmosphere, the National Weather Service said.

But some storms are possible later Wednesday afternoon and evening, though severe weather will be isolated, Warning Coordination Meteorologist John Robinson said in an email.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible as a cold front drops into Arkansas, the weather service said in an advisory.

Wind damage will pose the main severe-weather threat, Robinson said.

Another round of storms should hit a large part of the state Friday into Friday night, the weather service added, with some heavy rain likely as a new cold front arrives from the Plains states.
