Searcy police investigate third armed robbery in a week

Searcy police are investigating the city's third armed robbery in a week after a Thursday afternoon incident.

Officers received a call about 1 p.m. regarding a robbery of Lowery Drug Market at 700 Golf Course Drive, according to a news release from the Searcy Police Department. Witnesses said the robber walked into the store brandishing a gun and demanded prescription medications. He was described as a white man about six feet tall with a skinny build, wearing a dust or surgical mask and a blue mechanic-style jumpsuit, the release states.

After receiving an unknown amount of medication, the robber fled the store in a four-door white Mazda. The model of the vehicle was not described in the release.

It's not immediately clear if any of the three robberies are connected. A phone call to the Searcy Police Department was not immediately returned.
