Services set for ex-USA Drug chief LaFrance

PINE BLUFF — Services have been set for Stephen LaFrance Sr., the founder of Pine Bluff-based USA Drug.

LaFrance died at his home on Wednesday at age 71.

Visitation is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff. A funeral is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, also at the church. Burial is to follow at Graceland Cemetery in Pine Bluff.

LaFrance opened USA Drug in 1968 and built into a 144-store regional chain that he sold to Walgreen Co. last year for $438 million. The chain had stores in seven states and operated under a variety of business names.
