Pickup crashes after losing front wheel assembly; driver killed

A 19-year-old McCrory man died Thursday when his pickup lost its left front wheel assembly and then veered off the road, overturning in a field.

It happened about 6:30 p.m. on Arkansas 145 about seven miles south of McCrory in Woodruff County.

Arkansas State Police say Ethan Conerly was driving a 2003 Ford F-150 south on the highway when the wheel assembly came off. That sent the vehicle off the east side of the road, across a ditch and into a field, where it overturned.

According to a report, Conerly was ejected from the pickup. He died at the scene.

The report didn't say what might have caused the wheel assembly to come off.

Conerly is the 195th person to die in a traffic accident in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
