TRAFFIC ALERT: I-40, Cantrell Road restrictions set next week

Restrictions are set next week for Cantrell Road in Little Rock and a stretch of Interstate 40 in North Little Rock, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

On I-40, the westbound outside lane will be closed just east of the Crystal Hill overpass at 149 Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Crews will be repairing pavement in an area damaged when a tractor trailer hit an overpass, causing a fiery wreck that killed the driver and heavily damaged the bridge and interstate shoulder.

The Cantrell Road restriction will also run 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday on the railroad bridge just west of Dillard's corporate headquarters.

Crews will be continuing work there to repair the bridge deck and will have the westbound outside lane closed.

Elsewhere in the state, repairs to the Main Street railroad crossing in Traskwood will have that roadway closed during the day Sunday and Monday. Detours will be in place using Arkansas 291 to Arkansas 190 and Grand Avenue in Haskell and U.S. 67, officials said.

And repairs to a railroad crossing in Donaldson will have Arkansas 51 closed there during the day Monday. Traffic will be sent to Arkansas 51B and U.S. 67.

Weather conditions could change or delay any of the projects, the highway department said. Motorists are urged to use caution in and around the work zones.
